Situated on the shores of the Strait of Georgia, Qualicum Beach is located just an hour north of the Nanaimo ferry on Vancouver Island. This town is an excellent vacation hub with its variety of accommodations and formidable location set on the intersection of the Old Island Highway, Highway 19 (Island Highway) and Pacific Rim Highway (Highway 4). A bird-watching paradise, the region's woodlands, coastal estuaries and alpine meadows are home to more than 250 species of birds.
There are numerous urban pleasures such as shopping at unique boutiques and galleries in downtown Qualicum Beach or taking a break at one of the area’s coffee houses or ice cream shops. Travellers looking to stay in style while town will find the stately Crown Mansion, once frequented by famous persons such as Bing Crosby, John Wayne and the King of Siam. The fully renovated boutique hotel retains its elegant 1912 style with heritage fireplaces, sweeping staircases, rare wood paneling and elaborate crystal chandeliers.
